VOLUNTEERS
We rely on the generous help of volunteers to keep the areas of Dukes Barn looking their best for visiting groups. Over the last year we have been very grateful to have had the support of many volunteers from across the Chatsworth Estate, RAB and beyond, working in a COVID safe way to maintain and develop our outdoor spaces. This development support is invaluable and allows us to continue to develop more activities and offer to wider age and community groups than ever before.
If you would like to become involved as an individual for or a group please email us.
DONATIONS
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors we have worked hard to improve our facilities and equipment to accommodate people with multiple disabilities, fitting automatic wide entrance doors and push button bedroom doors, new accessible bathrooms and specialist bedroom furniture.
We have adapted canoes using hoists for wheelchair users, improved the overhead rail system on our wheelchair ropes course and upgraded the approach paths to our sensory garden and play area to allow wheelchair access. We have built an all weather wheelchair friendly sports area at the entrance to our playing fields and our most recent project, a wheelchair user accessible indoor climbing wall was opened in 2015.
As a charity none of this is possible without people like you. We rely on donations of all sizes to allow us to continue providing the best experiential residential facility that is totally inclusive for young people of all ages and abilities.
If you feel that you are able to contribute to the future of Dukes Barn and help us continue working with the young people we serve, you can do so by contacting us via the email.
All donations of any size are appreciated and we currently have several fundraising aims:
to raise £500 to install tarpaulin shelters in the Orchard and Wild areas to enable groups to shelter and carry on activities in wet weather.
to raise £3000 for further minibus driver training.
to rent and develop a further building into a Day Hub that will allow ‘Be Naturally Creative’ activities to continue all year round.
to upgrade our existing ropes course to make it a combined all-ability course that is exciting to both those young people with varying degrees of disability and those without.
